The term She’elot uTeshuvot, (Hebrew שאלות ותשובות, Responsa, often abbreviated שו”ת/Shu”t) directly translated means “Questions and Answers”. It refers to the questions posed over the centuries to the Rabbis on Jewish law, Torah, Mishnah and their answers.

The term She’elot uTeshuvot, (Hebrew שאלות ותשובות, Responsa, often abbreviated שו”ת/Shu”t) directly translated means “Questions and Answers”. It refers to the questions posed over the centuries to the Rabbis on Jewish law, Torah, Mishnah and their answers. The first known examples of Shu”t can be traced all the way back to the Mishnaic period, i.e. 200 years before common era. the amount of book and collection of Rabbinical responsa over just the last 200 years  is enormous and there is always something interesting to be found.
